Girl, 12-years old, Fatally Hit in Rancho Cordova
June 14th ─ Police in Rancho Cordova are investigating a hit-and-run that left a 12-year old girl dead on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near Coloma Road and El Manto Drive in Rancho Cordova, a suburb of Sacramento. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the 12-year old girl as Leah Callison, a 7th grader at Mitchell Middle School. Callison had been on her way to summer school at Cordova High School with another teenage student, a 12-year old boy. Callison was crossing the road when she was fatally struck by a gold Honda Accord, according to eyewitnesses. The boy was uninjured according to the boy’s grandparents. Police arrived on scene to find the girl being tended to by a resident of the area. The driver remained on scene until authorities arrived. The Honda Accord was spotted just up Coloma Road from where the accident took place, half parked on the sidewalk. The passenger’s side front window was shattered and the right headlight was damaged which scattered debris along to road. The driver was identified as an 18 or 19-year old female. Callison suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and died.
Man Dies in Fiery Crash on Highway in Elk Grove
June 1st ─ one man is dead after his vehicle caught fire in a single car crash that happened on the I-5 in Elk Grove, south of Sacramento. The incident was reported to authorities around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, May 31st. According to witnesses the driver had hit a guardrail and then proceeded to drive through a supporting beam of a highway sign. His car then flipped over and landed on its wheels after which it caught fire. Witnesses state that many people exited their vehicle and began to lend assistance to the elderly male driver who was trapped inside the car.
Woman Killed in 3-Car Accident in Tustin
May 24th ─ one woman is dead and two others are listed in stable condition after a collision involving 2 cars and 1 truck. The incident was called into local authorities around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 23th. According to Police, the 4-door Kia Spectra sedan was heading west on Nisson Road when it slammed into a Dodge Ram truck. The Dodge Ram was stopped in the street and was waiting for a parking spot, according to witnesses. The force of the crash sent the Kia Spectra spinning out into the road and crash into another 4-door Kia Forte sedan traveling east on Nisson Road.
2 Drivers Injured on Highway 101 Car Crash near Cloverdale
May 16th ─ two drivers were injured in a violent 2-car collision resulting in one vehicle being split in half. The incident took place at around 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to the CHP, Apol Lansang, 25-years old, of Sonoma, was driving her Impala south on Highway 101, near Geysers Road when she was struck by a northbound Sequoia driven by Kevin Fenty, 27-years old, of Huntington Beach, that drifted across the highway into Lansang’s lane splitting her car in two. Lansang’s entire passenger side went onto an embankment, while Fenty was ejected from his car. At first glance, it seemed the two-vehicle crash must have been fatal, but both victims suffered only minor to moderate injuries. The two were rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
6- year old suffers head trauma after hit and run with DUI suspect
According to authorities the incident took place on the evening of May 8th in San Ysidro as a family was returning home from Disneyland; they were only blocks away from their home when a pickup truck collided with their car. Border Patrol agents came upon the crash at the intersection of Camino De La Plaza and Dairy Mart Road around 11:30 p.m. Saturday evening. They found multiple victims and called local authorities. The suspect later identified by authorities as Constantino Banda-Acosta, 38, a Mexican national who according to Boarder Patrol has been deported 15 times since 2002. ICE officials were cited as stating that 15 removals is a “significant number” indicating an “egregious immigration violation”. San Diego police arrested Banda-Acosta, who was suspected of driving under the influence and leaving a crash scene with injured people.
