Two Crashes Kill Pedestrians in Camarillo and Ventura
CAMARILLO AND VENTURA, CA (July 26, 2022) – Two Ventura County crashes which occurred in less than an hour of each other killed two pedestrians.
The July 23 crash and July 24 crash occurred in Camarillo and Ventura.
The first crash occurred in Camarillo on Lewis Road, near Camino Alvarez and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 11:35 p.m., authorities said.
According to deputies, a man was walking in the southbound Lane of Lewis Road and a vehicle struck him.
Responders pronounced the victim deceased at the crash site. His identity has not been reported.
The driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver’s identity is also not known from reports.
Less than a hour later in Ventura, a pedestrian was struck and killed where Darling Road and Wells Road intersect.
The time was roughly 12:23 a.m., police said.
According to people who witnessed the incident, the pedestrian was walking across the street, not within a crosswalk, when a vehicle struck her.
Responders took the patient to VCMC. She was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
She was identified only as a resident of Ventura, 46 years old. Her name is not known from reports.
The person who was driving the vehicle remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.
The driver was identified only as a resident of Piru, 23 years old. Reports do not state his name.
Investigators are continuing to work on both crashes.
