Amazing! Dog Survives 11 Miles on Car Grille
A cute white dog was hit and knocked unconscious by a car on the highway. Amazingly, the dog survived the injury and was forced to take 11 mile road trip from the Taunton area. The trip lasted until other motorists flagged down the clueless driver of the car. The pup was taken to the East Providence Animal Control Center that is now attempting to locate the owner of the dog that survived being inadvertently transported.
William Muggle an animal control supervisor in East Providence told the Taunton Gazette that the driver of the Toyota was traveling at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on Route 44 near Segregansett Country Club on Sept. 20 when the dog — a white female, believed to be a poodle-mix — ran into the road towards the oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, upon seeing the dog, slammed the brake pedal and began to inspect the area for the dog. After not seeing the dog anywhere near or on the roadway Muggle said the driver took off perplexed and continued along Route 44 into Rhode Island believing he had not struck the dog with his vehicle.
About eleven miles from the site where the incident that seemed mysterious to the driver occurred, his attention was captured by another driver. On the stoplight in East Providence he was told that there was a dog wedged in the front of his car inside the grille.
Shocked, the driver ran outside to inspect the situation, then immediately drove to the East Providence Police Department. Officer onsite made some quick decisions and contacted animal control personal who removed the dog from the vehicle. They transported the female dog that was caught and injured to East Bay Animal Hospital where she was stabilized.
Then veterinarians at the clinic felt that it was better to transport the pooch to Bay State Emergency Clinic where she was held overnight.
Muggle said the dog suffered a concussion and possibly a minor rupture of the bladder, which has since healed. “We took (the dog) to an emergency clinic, and now she’s actually doing fine, crazy enough,” Muggle said. “She’s a good dog,” he added.
The dog had a chip, its owner has not yet been found. Muggle contacted authorities to see if any have reported a dog missing with that description, unfortunately, they have not. Taunton Police Department, however is attempting to locate the owner.
